A superb final round of 65 which included 11 birdies was enough to give Richard Green his third European Tour victory at the Portuguese Masters at the Victoria Course in Vilamoura. Pablo Martin could only manage joint sixth place despite holding a commanding overnight lead. Green finished 2 shots clear of four players including Francesco Molinari who shot a final round 62, Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (68), Sweden's Robert Karlsson (67) and Joost Luiten of the Netherlands (69). Molinari held the clubhouse lead until Green completed his impressive round to lead by 2. There was then a nervous wait whilst Martin completed his round but the Spaniards round got worse as he neared the finish to card a 75 and hand Green the title.
It was a great day for Portugal and the Algarve as the course was fabulous and was matched by the weather which was exquisite.
